How to read your conditions, plan a trip and ask Hydro anything. The full technical documentation lives with the code.
1. Open Hydro
Allow location when asked and the map centres on where you are. Prefer not to share it? Search for any place instead. Pick what you are doing, such as walking, running or cycling, and Hydro tailors its advice to it.
2. Read the panel
- The large number is the temperature, with how it feels and the current risk beside it.
- The line beneath says what that means for you, and when the coolest window of the day is.
- Heat index, humidity, wind and UV sit below. Drag the panel up to see what to do.
- The sun or moon at the top of the map matches the sky, and rain or snow falls when it does.
3. Plan a trip
- Search for a place, or press and hold on the map, and tap the result.
- Hydro draws the route and switches the panel to the trip view.
- Choose Walk, Bike or Drive. The advice refreshes for each: water to carry, what to wear and when it is cooler.
- Tap Pin to save the place, for example Work, and open it again with one tap.
4. Ask Hydro
Ask in plain words. A few examples:
Is it safe to jog at 3 pm? How much water should I take on a 10 km walk? When is the coolest time to leave for work? Is the air quality okay for a bike ride?
Inside a trip, the chat already knows where you are going and how.
5. Trends
- See the next 24 hours as weather, then as heat. Touch or drag across the chart to read any hour.
- The info button explains the colours.
6. Alerts and settings
- Turn heat and sun alerts on, and choose how urgent something must be before Hydro speaks up.
- Set quiet hours so nights stay calm.
- Connect a watch through Health Connect for gentle suggestions when your heart is working hard in the heat.
- Switch weather animation on or off.
Everything else, including how the numbers are calculated, is in the docs folder on GitHub.
